May 1995: GMP files documents with the Vermont Public Service Board seeking regulatory approval of its proposed six-megawatt wind project in Searsburg, Vermont.
May 1995: The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issues a new 30-year operating license for GMP's 7.2-megawatt, Essex 19 hydroelectric generating station.
June 1995: The Vermont Public Service Board approves GMP's proposed 9.25 percent retail rate increase, which will yield an additional $12.5 million in annual revenues. GMP's target return on equity for electric operations increases to 11.25 percent, up from 10.5 percent.
October 1995: GMP offers a special jobs-incentive contract to a Canadian manufacturer that located a new facility in GMP's service territory.
November 1995: The Company files a unique discount pricing proposal with the Vermont Public Service Board. The pricing experiment would provide eligible customers a reduced price on electricity use that exceeds use during the comparable period a year earlier.
December 1995: An electric vehicle equipped with a special "thermal-management system" to improve battery performance and driver comfort during cold weather arrives at GMP as part of the Company's continuing participation in EVermont, a collaborative effort to develop electric vehicles for northern rural conditions.
December 1995: GMP's union employees ratify a new three-year contract with the Company.
December 1995: GMP issues $24 million of First Mortgage Bonds in a refinancing that will save the Company $400,000 over the life of the bonds.
December 1995: The Company is the first electric utility in the state to file a plan with the Vermont Public Service Board to bring competition to the electric utility industry and allow electric customers to choose their supplier of electricity.
