Environmental Policy

 

As a Vermont company, Green Mountain Power Corporation has a deep appreciation for the value of a healthy environment. Green Mountain Power is committed to providing leadership and resources to all its business operations in order to safeguard the environment for present and future generations. To that end, the Company will:

  1. Be a leader in providing clean, renewable energy resources.
  2. Develop products and services for our customers that will help them protect the environment.
  3. Commit to continuous improvement in environmental performance, and prepare an annual report to assess our environmental programs.
  4. Meet or exceed the requirements of all environmental laws, regulations and permits.
  5. Promote the efficient use of energy and other resources at work, in the environment and among customers.
  6. Promote sustainable development; that is, development that meets the needs and aspirations of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
  7. Engage in business practices that increase the use of suppliers, products and processes that protect the environment, public health and safety.
  8. Educate employees and customers in the value of environmentally sound practices.
  9. Manage Company-owned lands and natural resources to conserve them and use them in a sustainable manner.
  10. Ensure that each employee recognizes that he or she is responsible for the Company’s environmental performance and integrates environmental considerations into his or her business decisions.

The Company, through its employees, will develop specific programs and activities to implement the environmental policy.
